Welcome to Juniors Tuesday, the latest feature to hit Butcher Cricket. Congratulations to the Thirroul Under 14A side who progressed to
the Semi Finals on the back of a 4th place finish in the 11 team
competition. With a record of one outright win, three innings wins, one washout and five losses,
Thirroul met 1st placed Wests at Figtree Oval 2 on Saturday. The
previous encounter, back in Round 5, had been a
comfortable win to the Red Devils on the back of a mammoth 2-176.
This time around Thirroul put up a much braver fight in the field by restricting Wests to just 122, with not a single player passing 20 and all 10 wickets falling. Chief wreckers were Jonathan Fowles (3-24), Brenden Rallings (2-16) and Damian Rice (2-19) while 'keeper Jed Potter performed two smart stumpings. A massive improvement from the earlier encounter.
Unfortunately Thirroul were only able to put up 61 in reply; Damian Lum (16*) was solid as too was Chad Wilson (10). Unfortunately the favoured team went forth to the Grand Final, but not before Thirroul gave them a real shake in the field.
