It's cricket season and with it comes a sense of Deja vu. This time last year the Butchers were preparing to open their season with a victory over Helensburgh. The rains came and ensured the first round wouldn't have a ball bowled in all three grades.
Not much has changed. New year, same opponent, same result. Lately we've had everything but rain; mixtures of high and low temps and even a bloody phenomenon that blanketed dust all over NSW.
Friday before the season opener rolls around and the rain shows up. As of this writing at midday Saturday it is still raining. Therefore it's official: Season 2009/10 has started with a washed out weekend for the Butchers.
