With our passports endorsed, NDCC 5th Grade White ventured down to Dapto to try and avenge a first round drubbing from this young team. After negotiating broken bottles etc we made it to the field and won the toss.

We elected to bat and put some pressure on their bowlers. David Bailey and Dave Bateman started off the innings well and we were cruising at 0/20 in the 7th over. Dave Bateman went for a quick single and pulled a hamstring. Steve Kempton padded up and went as a runner for Davo but he was caught & bowled soon after. A quick succession of dismissals saw us lose the 10 wickets for only 14 runs leaving us all out for 34. Most disappointing.

We were still not going to give up and David Bailey opened the bowling and bowled extremely well without luck. At the other end Marcel Van Wijk bowled with venom and was rewarded with the figures of 4/17 off 5 overs. He was on a hat trick in his 3rd over but missed out, however he took a wicket with his next ball - 3 wickets in 4 balls. Our new wicketkeeper Josh Grosse took 2 great catches and Renn Murphy 1 catch. We had Dapto at 4/16 and had a sniff of victory for a while but this was soon snuffed out. Dapto passed our score in the 11th over.

Although we lost there were some positives to come out of the game. A victory is only just around the corner for this group of talented athletes.
