Instead of the usual weekly wrap-up of Junior results across the club; the Northern Districts Juniors Correspondent will be presenting a daily look at each Junior team's season for 2010/11. The wins, the losses, the near misses, the standout performances, the lot.

The young Under 10 White side (some as young as six and seven) gave it their all in what was a first season of cricket for many of the players. Led by passionate coaches Jason Starling and Neal Tomczynski (past Butcher) the "Whites" managed to put together a few competitive performances against usually much stronger competition.

Under 10 participated in two competitions; an unreported Development phase before Christmas and a seven game Competitive phase after the break. White played five completed games after one washout and one forfeit.

Their best performances came against University when compiling 2/60 but were only able to restrict Uni to 3/82. The main difference in the game was one innings by a stronger Uni opener. Against Helensburgh a few players hit some good scores in a total of 8/70 before nearly upsetting Balgownie in the final game when restricting the Magpies to 7/81. Chasing, with what appeared only nine players, White gave it a fair go with 8/63.

Tyler Adams, Grace Sargeson and Logan Tomczynski all did admirably with the bat - finishing as the Top 3 in the team; Grace with the highest individual score of 14* and Tyler second with 13. Tyler, Logan and Grace each experienced the pride of striking a boundary in the competition phase - perhaps their first ever in competition! No doubt proud moments for mum and dad.

Riley Clapham, Harrison Moy, Oscar Mantei and Grace Sargeson all led the wicket taking with two wickets a-piece; right behind with one each were coaches sons Jordan Starling & Logan Tomczynski; also Hudson Hawken and Liam Hewitt. Riley finished with the best average though Hudson Hawken collected the best match figures of the season with 1/5 against Keira.

In the field Riley Clapham, Tyler Adams and Grace Sargeson each took a catch, Grace and Tyler also featured in run outs as did Logan Tomczynski whilst budding 'keepers Logan and Hudson Hawken each collected a stumping!

Good to see a young lady do so well with bat and ball.

Additional encouragement to Mikey Sewell, who kept trying all year in his first year of cricket.

Congratulations U10 White for trying your best and we look forward to seeing you on the field next year when you're a lot bigger and stronger!

If you have additional team inside information or encouragement you wish to be included in this article, please send an email to juniorcorrespondent@butchercricket.com.

All results collected from the seven competitive phase matches. Unfortunately the development phase is not reported to Cricket Illawarra.
