Although some regular readers will find this headline a little hard to believe, the reality is that Gold are planning to go about their winning ways without too much fanfare. This however, may be difficult as our huge fan base will be hard to control, especially if we make it 3 in a row against Port Kembla this Saturday.
Last week against Keira at Wiseman’s it was Sir Pat Nolan’s turn to anchor our innings with a swashbuckling 60. Five more batsmen got into double figures and with 16 sundries we finished with 159 after 45. And that’s with Gold’s pinch hitter and resident woman expert, Warren Rabbits Stuart arriving with only a few overs left to play.
A defendable total we thought, though it might get close. However Keira capitulated with a total of 82 against a sharp bowling attack and 6 quality catches. Stand in Captain, Whispering Jack Wheatley knew Ant bowled better when he was angry so he deliberately waited and waited before giving Ant a chance. Perfect timing Jack, Ant finished with 3 for 5 off 3 including 2 maidens. Dad Glasgow 2 for 25 off 7. Marcel 2 for 15 off 6. Paul Partland 2 for 11 off 4 and not to be outdone (again), Sir Pat 2 for 6 off 3.
An early finish, cold crownies, and a visit from the Vice-Prez. An enjoyable afternoon hey lads?!
UP THE BUTCHERS!!
