Dribbus (right) was stylish first with the bat - scoring 70 of the finest - before looking like this

Well, after doubts that the game against White at the Bradman Oval, sorry, Dalton South (the two venues are so alike) would go ahead after lots of rain in the preceding days, the weather was better, the sun came out for a while and once again shone on the Men of Gold.

Up against the youthful development side, age and experience came out on top. After a steady start against some tight opening overs from Simmons and Studwick the middle order of Canvin (69) and Dribbus (70) put on 127 for the third wicket. A quick 16 from Sir Pat and a better than a run a ball 30 NO from Ant saw a total posted of 215 with the last wicket of Magnet Mal Rogers falling in the last over.

Sandwiches supplied were consumed at the interval and they were greatly received, with suggestions from the pom that tea in bone china cups could be provided next game met with some typical forthright words.

The second innings started with a bang as the unfortunate Bennet was struck full on the toes to be out lbw to the first ball of the innings and was then spotted hobbling back to the pavilion, sorry, shelter.  Some tight bowling from Dad and Rabbit saw runs hard to come by. Then came the highlight of the match. 'Great catch Magnet' isn't something you would expect to hear very often these days, however when an edge came through to Mag low to his left at second slip, the hands moved at speed to complete a very fine slip catch. Ponting could not have done it better. Although Ponting could get back up himself, Magnet needed a helping hand back to his feet.

A nice but wicketless spell by Earl (9 overs for 22 runs) enabled Pat at the other end to bowl a lovely set of 9 overs, 1 maiden, 18 runs and 4 wickets. Including two fine catches for keeper Kev standing up.

Causero batted well for a fine 48  but as wickets fell and the game drew to an end there was still time for another catch for Magnet, this time running in from fine leg to take a steepler off the bowling of Davo  followed by the shortest bowling spell possible, Ant took the last wicket with his first ball.

A tough season for White but Curtis Wilson deserves a lot of credit for the way he is bringing in the next group of players to help keep the club well stocked for the future.
