Player of the Week - Dec 20, 2011

 Nathan Alterator

This weeks Player of the Week goes to 4th Grade 'keeper and opening bat Nathan Alterator for his historic 144* against Balgownie over the weekend.

Nato is in his 2nd season with the club and showed glimpses of his capabilities last season with a few quick fire half centuries. But on this day, having been at the receiving end of an M Bubb century and a large score of 230, he strode to the crease with Captain Gary Neilson intent on having a crack.

Twenty boundaries and two sixes - and a mere ninety seven balls later he strode back with a bunch of records in tow. Carrying his bat in an innings, the largest (known) 10 wicket victory in Butcher History, the highest (known) individual innings that eclipsed Joe McDevitt's epic 141 last year. His accomplice, as previously mentioned, also carried his bat for a brilliant 83* himself. Perhaps if Balgownie had have piled on 380+ as they did to the NDCC Blue side a month or so back, we may have had some records set that could never be chased.

There were other outstanding performances this week. Neil Ryan (7/43 match) and Joe McDevitt (7/47 match) were outstanding with a bag each in a tough loss to Corrimal. Anthony Hunt (3/14 & 36*) and Brice Hilliard (2/26 & 26) were the only ones to really stand up in both efforts in a rarely beaten 3rd Grade side. Curtis Wilson (71 & 3/37) led from the front as the old head in the young side in a great game, but unfortunately narrow loss to Keira.

But when a bloke is unbeaten on 144* you'd be hard pressed to ever usurp him from the highest spot on the podium. Congratulations Nathan!
