This weeks Player of the Week goes to 3rd Grade skipper Pat Tobin for his all-round efforts in a rough weekend for the club.
In fact, 3rd Grade were the only shining light as all other Grades struggled; Pat's effort of 71 (83) at three with seven boundaries and three sixes steering the side from a precarious 1/5 to 2/65 and finally 3/128 at his dismissal.
The fact that Pat scored 71 of the 123 runs he shared shows how well he played; relegating last years' finalists a fair way down the ladder. Joinking, Potter, Martin and Alterator all played cameo's but it was built around the captains knock. Then, finally, Tobin decided to take the ball for once and eked out two wickets, completing quite the all-round afternoon.
Most noteworthy performances came from 3rd Grade this week. Anthony Hunt took 4/37 and Sandon Joubert 3/23 in his promotion to 3rd Grade. Joey McDevitt with a superb 37 in 1st Grade so soon after returning from injury, John Robinson stood tall also in a beaten side. Finally, Jamaican Meblow. Again, winners of the trivia night.
But it's Pat Tobin by a long margin this week, amazingly his first Player of the Week in the four seasons it has been running. But that's not surprising either, for he is the most selfless cricketer in the club. Congratulations Pat!
