This weeks Player of the Week goes to 2nd Grade top order batsman Jackson Stewart for his return to form match-winning innings of 72* away at Dapto over the weekend. Overcoming a wretched run, which included five ducks, Stewart was the foundation in an innings that had only three make it to double figures.
Stewart was at the crease with the score reading 1/17 and walked off after the final ball and a healthy 9/191 behind the side. Close to carrying his bat his was a knock of typical Stewart style, plenty of singles and as he grew in comfort a number of brutal cuts in front of square. He also deftly put away anything on his pads, finishing with four boundaries in his 139-ball stay. It was good to have him back.
He would later chip in with two crucial wickets as 2nd Grade held on to a thrilling 8-run victory and thus completed their second 1-Day Minor Premiership in succession.
Other notable performances included Jamal Banfield (2/10 from 10) and Eric Denhartog's (3/11 from 10) blistering spells against reigning Premiers Dapto when defending only 85, Josh Colmer's top score effort of 33 on a difficult track and Michael Doig's 29 sharing a great partnership with Jacko and a couple crucial wickets himself.
But the week belongs to Jacko, who will no doubt look to continue his return to form at Keira Oval on Saturday. Congratulations Jackson!
