This weeks Player of the Week goes to Jack Wheatley for his maiden half century against Helensburgh at Gibson Park over the weekend.
Jack, or Sticky Gloves (59 [score, not age]), just got the nod over the classy Early Canvin (73 [same as before]) for not only registering his first fifty, but doing so at the top of the order. Two grabs behind the wickets also for a guy who, according to one Goldmember, is "embarassingly fitter than I feel I have been in my whole career!"
Jack has been working hard on his batting this year, has a couple good scores to boot; this innings is a culmination of the hard work.
Unlucky to miss out was Canvin, as previously mentioned. This is a guy who loves the club, it oozes out of everything he does. Pulls the best looking gear from his kit bag, reeks of class and has been around long enough to sledge better than anyone. Hard luck Earle, but super knock.
Killer Benstead decided against spin to fire in 5/11 in nine overs, not bad considering he has hardly played all year. Ant Hunt, or shuffles, was also unlucky after his four wickets against Port. Here's a guy in a real purple patch with his bowling.
But this is Wheatley's Week. Congratulations Jack!
