Player of the Week - Nov 1, 2011

 Lucas Coleman

This weeks Player of the Week goes to the promoted 2nd Grade opening batsman Lucas Coleman for his sublime 90 against Wollongong at Hollymount Park on Saturday.

Initially picked in 3rds Coleman was a last minute inclusion and didn't he make the opportunity his. One Day cricket isn't usually his forte but Coleman hardly played a false stroke, seeing off the dangerous Mutch before turning it on later. The patience early on (10 off 40) became great shots on a slow outfield, brilliant running (taking every run available until exhausted) and a total of eight boundaries in a knock that deserved a hundred.

There were other outstanding displays that were just outdone by Coleman's efforts. Ryan O'Hara nearly didn't play this year, joining White and recording his career high with 63 in a thriller of a local derby with Sky. Matt Craig also turned it on with a career best 71 in 3rd Grade, JR his debut half century in 1st Grade, Scott Perkiss a half century in partnership with O'Hara and finally Mark Johnson's blistering knock in the SCG Cup match - 64 from 38 in quite simply a batting exhibition.

But the week is Luke's. Congratulations Coleman!
