This weeks Player of the Week goes to in-form wicketkeeper/batsman Jacob Hand for his debut 1st Grade half century against University over the weekend.
Newly promoted this season, Jacob has been in fine form in recent weeks; 20* against Uni followed by a face saving 42 against Wollongong when things were falling apart. Three great innings in three weeks was complete when he was again the face of crisis aversion with 60* - as mentioned his first fifty in the top Grade. As one player mentioned, "He makes you feel embarassed when you get out so meekly and he is doing it quite easy at the other end." Definitely sixty of the best. His work with the gloves shouldn't be missed either.
Honourable mentions include the evergreen Potter with another big score (50*), Chris Ledwidge's 4/27 including dismissals of all top four batsmen, Earle Canvin's golden 43 and 1/12 off nine to steer Gold to victory, Chris Brown's welcome back 58, Ray Blaas' 3/45 and 33* and finally yougsters Curtis Denhartog (3/19) and Justin Brancato (25*) really cementing themselves in 3rd Grade this year.
Well done all but the honours are the Handy Man's. Congrats Jacob.
